Getting Started

How do I install OnePager Pro?

After you have received the appropriate *.zip file from Chronicle Graphics, open the zip file and execute setup.exe. This will install the program and sample files at the path location you specify.

Because OnePager Pro is a Microsoft Office Project add-in, the installation will not install shortcuts anywhere; it is launched from Project. After installation, users will need to activate their license keys if they intend to use the software beyond the 15 day trial period.

How do I launch OnePager Pro?

Start Microsoft Project. Make sure that you have loaded an *.mpp file. If you have installed OnePager Pro, there will be a OnePager Pro button on a toolbar. There will also be a OnePager Pro menu item in the Tools menu. Click on either one of these to launch OnePager Pro.

The first time you launch OnePager Pro, you will need to supply a license key or start a 15 day trial license.

Once launched, the "OnePager Input Parameters" form will appear. Check the "Select All Tasks" checkbox, and click the OK button to create a binder from the open project.

How do I upgrade from a trial license to a standard license?

  • Click the "Help" menu.
  • Then click on "License." Then click on "Get Standard License."
  • In that screen you will see your Installation Code. Go to the License Keys section of the support center and submit your installation code.

Chronicle Graphics will email you a standard license key based upon the installation code that you submit. To enter your standard license key:

  • Repeat the procedure outlined above to reach the "Get Standard License" screen.
  • Click on the "More..." button and then paste your standard license key into that form.
  • Press "Validate License Key."

You should next receive confirmation that the key is valid. If not, make sure that you have pasted the key correctly. If you are typing the key rather than pasting it, be aware that it is case sensitive! If you are sure that you have pasted the correct key and it still does not accept it please contact us via email for assistance.

How do I obtain a user manual?

The user manual for each Chronicle Graphics product is included in the *.zip file that contains the software. These manuals are .pdf files, so you will need to download the free Adobe Reader in order to browse these manuals.

Features

How can I review my existing OnePager Pro charts?

  • Start Microsoft Project.
  • Click on the OnePager button on a toolbar to launch OnePager Pro.
  • The "OnePager Pro Input Parameters" form will appear.
  • In the "Project" box, choose an existing project.
  • Select the "View Binder" radio button.

How can I show a OnePager Pro chart in PowerPoint or an e-mail?

From the File menu, select "Copy Graph to Clipboard". Your OnePager Pro chart can now be pasted as an image into Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Outlook or a number of other supported applications.

How do I change the title of a snapshot?

Double-click on the title, and an edit window will appear, which will allow to change the text.

How do I temporarily disable OnePager Pro?

OnePager Pro can be temporarily removed from the Microsoft Project toolbar by going to View > Toolbars and deselecting OnePager Pro. When you're ready to enable OnePager again, follow these same steps.

How can I change the date range of my OnePager chart?

By default, OnePager Pro will automatically detect milestones that fall outside of your OnePager chart's date range and ask you if you would like to modify the dates to include them. You can, however, give OnePager Pro more specific instructions as to whether such date adjustments are necessary.

  • With your project view open, go to Project View > Properties of the project view.
  • Click on the "Advanced" tab.
  • At the bottom of the form, you will see an "Auto-adjust timeline" setting. This setting will allow you to specify whether OnePager should automatically adjust the timeline to fit your milestones, should never do so, or should continue to prompt you each time.

Troubleshooting

I get an error message: "This advertised application will not be installed because it might be unsafe..."

The complete error message is "This advertised application will not be installed because it might be unsafe. Contact your administrator to change the installation user interface option of the package to basic."

This error typically occurs when the Chronicle Graphics application has been already been partially installed on your machine (perhaps by your Network Administrator). In this scenario, the application has been advertised on your computer as being available to use, and will be installed when you try to run it for the first time using the application icon in the Start Menus Programs list. To resolve this problem, we recommend the following steps:

  • Open Add/Remove Programs (or in Vista, Programs and Features) in Control panel, locate the the Chronicle Graphics application entry in the list of installed applications, and use the controls to Uninstall it.
  • Unzip the Chronicle Graphics installation package into some folder on your harddrive.
  • Install the Chronicle Graphics application by double clicking on setup.exe from that folder on your harddrive.
  • If the problem persists, contact your network administrator to see if he/she has any information concerning partial Merge installations on your computer.

OnePager Pro has disappeared from the toolbar.

Microsoft Office applications will sometimes disable an add-in like OnePager Pro when they detect a problem while that add-in is executing. The user may get an error message when the problem occurs, but that error message does not tell the user that Microsoft Project has decided to disable OnePager Pro.

To re-enable OnePager in Microsoft Project, go to Help > About Microsoft Project > Disabled Items. If OnePager Pro is on the disabled list, select it and click on the “Enable” button to re-enable it. Then make sure that the checkbox is checked next to OnePager in the “COM Addins” form on the Microsoft Project Tools menu.

When I launch OnePager Pro, one of my other Microsoft Office Project add-ins crashes.

OnePager Pro is designed to work with an unlimited number of third-party add-ins for Microsoft Project. However, due to a known issue with Microsoft's .NET Framework, other add-ins may experience difficulty when you install OnePager Pro. To remedy this problem, simply install the following hotfix from Microsoft:

Microsoft .NET Framework Hotfix (KB963676)
